Members of the Independent Workers Union based in Iceland stores in the Dublin area have served strike notice on their employer for May 19^th 2023.

At the beginning of the year, the operations of the Iceland supermarket chain in the Republic of Ireland were sold in their entirety to a new owner, Naeem Maniar. Since this transfer of operations, the Iceland stores have continued to operate under the same name, however the conditions for the workers in these stores have significantly deteriorated.

Since the transfer of undertakings to the new owner, many of the workers have been consistently paid incorrectly. This has meant that some workers have not been paid for all hours worked, some are not receiving payslips, some have had emergency tax applied despite years of service, and some have not received their annual leave or sick pay entitlements.
